DAILY RECORD PHOTOGRAPHER AND AUTHOR DAVID CRUICKSHANKS

"Brian Anderson's instinct for composition and subject matter caught in a split second emulates the work of the great street photographers of the 20th Century.

I put him right up there  with Cartier-Bresson, Oscar Marzaroli, Bert Hardy and Doisneau

To my mind he is in the same exalted company."

THE HERALD MAGAZINE

"Born and raised in the East End of the city, he is the latest in a long line of photographers – from Oscar Marzaroli to Harry Benson and Raymond Depardon – who have tried to frame Glasgow, to catch the quicksilver nature of the place in all its moods. It’s just that Anderson has been doing it longer than most."

"In the end it’s possible that it’s his images of Glasgow that will prove to be his legacy. A vision of a city at the end of the 20th century and the start of the 21st in all its ragged glory, in all its pain and joys. This is Glasgow. In black and white.

FLASHBAK MAGAZINE

Anderson has worked a press photographer, street photographer, and music photographer.  His work has appeared in thousands of newspapers and magazines. His photographs have been compared to the work of such legendary photographers as Oscar Marzaroli, Harry Benson and Raymond Depardon."

FLASHBAK MAGAZINE

"It sometimes seems there is more than one Brian Anderson as his photographic work appears in so many different newspapers, magazines, and books, it can be difficult to appreciate such a diverse output is the work of just one man. The word some people struggle with when describing Anderson is talent. For Anderson is one of the most talented photographers to come out of Scotland."

HUCK MAGAZINE

"His tendency to not engage with his subjects also allowed him to capture the many intimate scenes which make up the book. These ‘behind-the-scenes’ moments – whether it’s a ballerina preparing to go on stage, an artist puffing on a cigarette, or a circus performer gazing into a mirror – are some of the most arresting images in the book. They serve as a reminder of the humanity that has remained constant in a city that is forever changing."

DAILY RECORD

"Brian has been taking stunning images of Glasgow for 30 years, spotlighting both the light and dark side of life."

THE SUN

"Brian, who has been dubbed Scotland's answer to legendary New York photographer Arthur 'Weegee' Fellig, focuses on the people along with the city in the book.

And his portfolio, taken on nights spanning more than a decade, are brought to life in the new work."

EVENING TIMES

"The Rollers' manager, John Mclaughlin, told the Evening Times: “From our first meeting with Brian we had no hesitation in bringing him together with the Rollers.

“His photographs are iconic and reminded me of the great pictures of the past – the classic shots of the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, Elvis, Bowie and the Beatles."
